The owner of this narrow garden, just three metres wide, wanted a Japanese-flavour but with flowering interest. The garden is subtly divided into three areas. Leading from the French windows is a large bamboo-lined deck for sunbathing and entertaining, with an adjacent terrace planted with evergreen Japanese grass. Next is a rock-edged pond planted with Japanese iris and moisture-loving plants. A gravel path and stepping stones pass by this and continue to the third, grass area, where the kidney-shaped lawn and curved flower borders visually widen the garden.
